No one wants to be disrespected. When leaders disrespect those whom they have been given the privilege of leading, they negatively impact the productivity of the entire team. They also encourage an environment where team members are more likely to disrespect each other. This type of behavior decreases morale and overall productivity.
Leaders must set the tone. They should respect their team members and they must also insist that team members respect one another. Dan Rockwell's article gives some examples of disrespectful behavior and practical tips on how leaders can show value for others.

It can be tough sometimes to find the right balance between taking credit for your accomplishments and presenting accomplishments as a team effort. As women we are encouraged to highlight our individual work and not be afraid to talk about our successes. However, as a leader you have to find a balance. If you lead a team, it is important to share credit with team members especially when they are present. Most of our difficult business problems can not be solved alone. Good leaders and good team members are needed.
