They care for themselves. Taking care of your physical dimension is a sign of self-respect. You can't do great things at work if you don't feel good. Authentic leaders eat well, exercise and care for the temples that are their bodies. They spend time in nature, drink plenty of water and get regular massages so that, physically, they are operating at planet-class levels of performance.

They spend a lot of time with their eyes closed creating blueprints and fantasies that lead to better products, better services, better workplaces and deeper value. They genuinely care about other people and spend their days developing the people around them. They are like the sun: the sun gives away all it has to the plants and the trees. But in return, the plants and the trees always grow toward the sun.

Every other Tuesday, WOMEN AT LIBERTY provides a platform for a variety of voices and resources to develop, encourage, and strengthen women leaders. In May 2012, I had the opportunity to meet with Dean John T. Delaney, PhD. of the University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. We talked about the current state of women in executive leadership and why women do not choose to get advanced business degrees at the same rate they obtain professional degrees in other areas, like law and medicine.

That discussion was the catalyst for a series of blogs and articles. Today the last installment, "The Pitt Experience" will be posted (after 6:30 pm on 10/2/12) on womenatliberty.com. In this blog, I talk about my educational experience at the University of Pittsburgh and some potential strategies for increasing the number of women enrolling in Business School.
