REPOST: My Prayer

My Prayer in times when words fail us:
Re-posting a prayer that I wrote over 15 years ago. The sentiment of the prayer really blessed  me and I hope it blesses you as well.
______________________________________

Lord, there are places where we are not able to go, so we send your Spirit. There are hearts that we cannot touch, so we pray for the power and comfort of the Holy Spirit to minister to them.

We also pray for those that will have the opportunity to minister and pray for those who are in need and broken-hearted. Give them wisdom. Help them to minister in a spirit of love, truth and restoration.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

*Dedicated to the memory of Pastor Paul E. Sheppard who inspired this prayer. He past away on January 25, 2025 and my thoughts are with his family and church during this time of grief and gratitude for his life and ministry.

Hopeful

“Today is marked by the past behind us, the future before us and the present surrounding us. May our hopes propel us into our destiny and our fears cause us to plan wisely. May the legacy we leave behind stand the test of integrity, honor, progress and good fortune.”

They Did Not Win Today!

"Sing your favorite song today. Even if you don't know all the words or you don't like the way you sound. Sing to let all the forces trying to silence you know that they did not win today."

It's Your Journey!

"Our lives are a reflection of what we say, what we believe, what we choose, what we do, and our struggle to change these things. If there is anything that life teaches us during our journey, it is that our focus should be on acquiring knowledge, being confident in who we are, and adding value to our life and the lives of others."

Bringing About Change...@vnona

We must exhibit the behaviors we desire to see in others. That's the responsibility of being an adult and a #leader. This will bring about the  #change we seek.

Guard Your Heart!

The heart is the center of our lives both literally and figuratively. We must take care of our hearts by feeding our bodies and spirits good things, love and truth and rejecting evil...evil thoughts and actions.

Awakening To The Knowing

Walking around everyday asleep to the reality of your surroundings...

It's okay to believe that people are basically good and have good intentions. But, know this: even among those who you may call friend, there are some who do not have good intentions towards you. Nor will they ever consider what's in your best interests.

Govern yourself accordingly.

Using Your Power...@vnona

Everyone has power although everyone's degree of power is not the same. Even babies, the weakest among us, have power. They use their voice to get our attention. Your voice has power, too.

The most effective way to use your power is to unite your voice with others to accomplish change for the common good. How will you use your power?

Love is...

Don't let anyone tell you anything different. Love is an action word. Love is not only telling someone you love them, it is showing them. Love that does not include respect is not love.

Ode To Love...Nona O.

From a pure and quiet place
Or even in the midst of chaos
With truth and grace
I love you

When all alone
I am there
And no matter what happens
I will always care

Time Will Tell...Nona

Time will tell if we really believe the philosophies that we preach to others.  Will we hold ourselves accountable to the standards that we have called others to live by? Time will tell...

A Free Gift

A simple smile is a free gift that can make the difference in someone's day. A compliment can change their negative perception. Freely give and freely receive.

The Spirit Lives On!

Great men and women live and die, but the true essence of their lives remain. If we are mindful, that essence, which is their spirit, will inform us and live on in our hearts for eternity.

Time = Love

To a teenager, the time you spend with them, listening to them is a direct indication of your love for them. Even if they don't have a lot to say, they appreciate your presence and they will remember it.

Who's On Your Dream Team?...@vnona

Everybody should have a chance to become and be their "best selves"!  For that to happen a team of coaches and supporters who genuinely care are needed.
